Makale ÖzetiGalerkin çözüm prosedürüne dayanan Eleman Bağımsız Galerkin (EBG) metodu son yirmi yıldır sonlu elemanlar yöntemine alternatif olarak geliştirilmiş olup mühendislik problemlerin çözümünde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada yeni ve popüler olan EBG metodu basit bir katı cisim mekaniği problemine uygulanmışıdır. İncelenen nümerik örnek olarak bir ucu ankastre diğer ucu da zorlanmaya maruz bırakılan iki boyutlu elastik kiriş incelenmiştir. EBG metodu kullanılarak elde edilen. ux ve uy yer değiştirme değerleri ve çözüm süreleri, analitik çözüm ve sonlu elamanlar sonuçlarıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuç olarak incelenen problem için eleman bağımsız Galerkin yöntemi doğruluk ve verimlilik bakımından sonlu elemanlar yönteminden daha iyi olduğu kararına varılmıştır.

Article Summary in English The Element Free Galerkin (EFG) method based on Galerkin formulation, which was developed as an alternative to the finite element method has been used widely in solution of engineering problems for last two decades. In this study, new and popular EFG method was applied to a simple solid mechanics problem. As a numerical example, a 2D elastic cantilever beam fixed at one end and subjected to traction at the other free end is investigated. Moving least squares approximation is used as a shape functions. Displacement values ux and uy and solution time obtained by using EFG are compared with analytical solution and the finite element results. As a result, it can be concluded that the accuracy and efficiency of element free Galerkin method solutions are better than the results of the finite element method.
