Article Summary In response to Waste Management strategies and environmental regulations throughout the country, the waste oils from turbojet and turbofan turbines were characterized according to the “Regulation on Control of Waste Oils (OG dated 30.07.2008 and numbered 26952)” which was published by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Turkey for the integrated interim storage, recycling, and/or disposal of these products. Representative waste oil samples were taken from a total of 19 supersonic military aircraft operated in different conditions and investigated for the following criteria: arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, polychlorinated biphenyls, chlorine, total halogens and flash point.
